Holistic education is considered highly relevant in addressing the challenges of globalization, as it not only emphasizes academic achievement but also fosters emotional, social, physical, and spiritual development. The research employed a literature review method by examining various studies and practices of holistic education, including nature-based schools, the Montessori method, and project-based learning. The findings indicate that holistic education can cultivate balanced, creative, and adaptive learners equipped with essential life skills such as empathy, collaboration, and environmental awareness. Nevertheless, several challenges remain, including limited teacher training, unequal access to educational infrastructure in remote areas, and parental mindsets that prioritize academic rankings over character building. To overcome these issues, proposed solutions include teacher training in holistic pedagogy, collaboration with NGOs in school development, and parental awareness programs highlighting the importance of academic and non-academic balance. With strong commitment from government, schools, and communities, holistic education can serve as a transformative strategy to prepare competent and character-driven future generations.
2025-08-28T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Al Juhra http://journal.pencerah.org/index.php/ijtte/article/view/541 Slang and Informal Language in the Disney Film “Encanto”: A Sociolinguistic Analysis 2025-08-26T03:02:58+00:00 Nadia Almunawarah nadiajawaris@gmail.com Meristiaka Moetia nadiajawaris@gmail.com
This study examines the presence and types of slang in the animated film Encanto, with the aim of identifying the categories of slang expressions and determining the most frequently used type. While previous research has often focused on slang in youth subcultures, music, or everyday interaction, less attention has been given to how slang is embedded in family-oriented animated films that reach global audiences. Using a descriptive qualitative method, the data were gathered through repeated viewings of the film and analyzed with Allan and Burridge’s (2006) framework, which classifies slang into five types: fresh and creative, flippant, imaginative rhyming, acronymic, and clipping. The analysis revealed 125 slang expressions, distributed as follows: 8% fresh and creative slang, 6% clipping slang, 27% imaginative rhyming slang, and 59% flippant slang, with flippant slang emerging as the most dominant. These findings highlight how Encanto relies on informal, humorous, and playful language to engage younger audiences. Beyond entertainment, this study contributes to sociolinguistic discussions of language variation in media and provides insights for educators into how popular films mirror and influence children’s exposure to informal language.
2025-09-20T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Nadia Almunawarah, Meristiaka Moetia http://journal.pencerah.org/index.php/ijtte/article/view/547 Literasi Psikologis Dalam Penataan Resolusi Intrapersonal Pada Permasalahan Perjudian 2025-09-06T06:50:22+00:00 Erwin Setyawan erwin.ese@bsi.ac.id Yohanes Probo Dwi Sasongko sakasasongko@gmail.com
Our nation is facing a gambling emergency. The rampant phenomenon of gambling, both online and offline, has affected all aspects of life. The impact of gambling not only damages social relationships, economic needs, and mental health, but the loss of life is something precious that must be addressed. The massive impact is felt by many gamblers, especially online gamblers, who experience stress and mental disorders. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to examine and further explain the psychological aspects of gambling. The method used is qualitative, with a netnographic study approach, which refers to the theory of consciousness transformation introduced by Reza Antonius Wattimena. In consciousness transformation, we can see that the main key to releasing attachment and dependence on gambling is to bring full awareness into human life. The results of the study show that with the existing level of awareness, we can have a good understanding that the phenomenon of gambling is a form of shared problem that we must pay attention to consciously and responsibly. This can be a way for humans to develop well and wisely in addressing every issue, especially those related to gambling.
2025-06-30T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Erwin Setyawan, Yohanes Probo Dwi Sasongko http://journal.pencerah.org/index.php/ijtte/article/view/555 Investigating Spoken English Errors: Pronunciation and Grammar among Students of Non-English Majors 2025-10-01T12:59:29+00:00 Julia Rizki juliarizki@utu.ac.id Randila Tiayu Ismar ismar.randila@utu.ac.id
Exploring students’ errors can reveal the students’ knowledge about the target language, and the teacher then can focus on the students’ learning problems. Speaking is considered the most like to contain errors among the four language skills. This study aimed at investigate pronunciation and grammatical errors committed by EFL learners in speaking skills. It focuses on classifying pronunciation and grammatical errors using the Target Modification Taxonomy proposed by Carl James. The method used in this study was a case study. In a total, 20 students in an International Tourism College in Aceh were involved as participants. The data were collected by recording the students’ utterances in a speaking test. Findings indicate that there were four types of pronunciation errors and five types of grammatical errors. In pronunciation errors, the learners committed errors in omission, overinclusion, misordering, and misselection. In terms of grammatical errors, the students made mistakes in omission, overinclusion, misordering, misselection, and blends. These findings highlight the influence of students’ first language (Indonesian) and insufficient exposure to English input. Pedagogically, the results suggest that teachers should integrate minimal pair drills to address common pronunciation problems and provide explicit instruction on subject-verb agreement through focused practice activities
2025-06-30T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Julia Rizki, Randila Tiayu Ismar http://journal.pencerah.org/index.php/ijtte/article/view/559 The Use of Role Play Technique in Teaching Speaking at Senior High School 2025-10-09T06:09:02+00:00 Anna Husna anna.husna28@gmail.com
This study which used library research is intended to look some theories and research findings related to the use of role play in teaching speaking.
